Supergroup sales in lift from abroad
SUPERGROUP yesterday said it had opened a record number of stores abroad in the last quarter – as sales surged by 68.4 per cent.
The company, which is behind the Superdry label, saw sales jump to £57.5m in the three months to 31 October. Supergroup opened a record 14 franchise stores overseas in the quarter, including its first in the United Arab Emirates, bringing the total to 49.
The company also launched eight stores in the UK and a further 13 concessions in House of Fraser department stores.
The Superdry label has been boosted by celebrities, including David Beckham, who wear the clothes.
Chief executive Julian Dunkerton said: ‘These figures really demonstrate the solid progress we are making as a brand and as a retail company. The autumn range has been well received by the public and our roll-out is on track both in the UK and internationally.” The business floated in March and the share price has soared since.
