Strongest pick up in wages since before crisis seen by recruiters
RECRUITERS recorded the strongest increase in permanent salaries since before the financial crisis last month, an early indication that the economy’s recent upturn may finally be translating through to wages.
Research out today says the number of recruitment and employment consultancies reporting an increase in permanent salaries has risen to 18.1 per cent.
The latest jobs report from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG suggests that permanent salaries are on the rise across England, with the strongest performance since December 2007.
Jobs site Adzuna have also registered the upswing in pay, with Andrew Hunter commenting: “While salary growth still tracks well below rates of inflation, it's clear that some of the positive movement we’ve seen regarding job stock and unemployment is now spreading to wages.”
