Strong UK job market helps boost profits at recruiter Robert Walters
GLOBAL recruitment firm Robert Walters delivered a 74 per cent rise in profit before tax during the first half the year, it announced yesterday.
It raked in £377.6m in revenue over the period, up from £310m during the same time last year.
Income from fees in the UK climbed 20 per cent to £38.7m.
Strength in the UK professional sector was broad-based, the company said, and not confined to any specific sector or region.
Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam all saw fees from placing workers grow in excess of 100 per cent. The company plans further growth in these areas, but insists growth will be steady and not based on takeovers.
“You don’t want to put too many logs on the fire so it goes out,” Robert Walters, chief executive of the eponymous firm told City A.M.
“With steady growth and the right management…you will end up with another Tokyo.”
