Strauss: We’ll lose the series unless we learn
ENGLAND captain Andrew Strauss conceded his side will have to rapidly learn from their defeat in the first Test against South Africa if they are to rescue the series.
Strauss’s men were dismissed for 240 shortly before the final day’s tea despite battling in an innings-and-12-runs defeat as the visitors accumulated 637 for two and took control of the series to decide the world’s highest ranked Test team.
“After day one, South Africa played some outstanding cricket and didn’t allow us to get back into the game,” said Strauss. “[There’s] a lot of frustration but there are lessons to be learned and we’ll learn them before next week.”
