Star Sports: Lay of the day
Star Sports owner Ben Keith picks out one horse he’s happy to lay each day
THIS column hasn’t exactly gone great so far. Vautour romped home on Tuesday for one of the most impressive Supreme Novices’ wins I’ve ever seen and Sire De Grugy was brilliant in the Champion Chase yesterday.
Today’s main event is the World Hurdle and what a race it is set to be. Big Buck’s is going for an astonishing fifth win and you can back him with Star Sports safe in the knowledge that if he finishes out of the frame, you’ll get your money back.
We’ll be looking to get him in the book but the one we’re really going to take on is the unbeaten mare ANNIE POWER. She has looked outstanding up to now, but is unproven at three miles and, although the quicker ground may help her get home, soft conditions seem to suit her well.
Everyone seems to think this is a match, but it doesn’t always end up like this and there are plenty of interesting bigger-priced runners who could upset the apple cart.
It’s been a fantastic first two days and if you’re coming to the course today, come and see us on Pitch Three in Tattersalls.
