Dott shows first in semi
SNOOKER: Graeme Dott, the 2006 world champion, was left eyeing another World Championship final after opening up a 5-3 lead in his semi-final with Mark Selby last night.
In the other semi-final, Australia’s Neil Robertson surged into 5-0 lead over Ali Carter before holding on for a 6-2 lead after the opening session.
O’Connell blow for Munster
RUGBY UNION: Munster will be without talismanic captain Paul O’Connell for Sunday’s Heineken Cup semi-final against Biarritz.
The 30-year-old lock is yet to recover from a groin injury suffered playing for Ireland against Scotland in the Six Nations.
The Magners League side can, however, call upon Keith Earls, Doug Howlett, Ian Dowling and Nick Williams.
Woods makes error-strewn start
GOLF: Tiger Woods fired four bogeys and a double-bogey in a two-over-par 74 on the opening day of the Quail Hollow Championship in North Carolina – his first PGA tournament back since last month’s US Masters.
The world No1 finished nine shots behind early leader Bo van Pelt, while Lee Westwood also struggled after a 71.
