Murray wins on Dubai return
TENNIS: Britain’s Andy Murray made a winning return to action in his first match since finishing runner-up at last month’s Australian Open.
Murray beat Russian Igor Kunitsyn 6-2, 6-3 to reach the second round of the Dubai Championship. Novak Djokovic, who assumed top seed status after Roger Federer withdrew, also progressed against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
Gibbs makes Yorkshire move
CRICKET: South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs has signed to play for Yorkshire in this summer’s Twenty20.
The 35-year-old had spells with Glamorgan in 2008 and 2009.
Aldridge bailed after Tesco arrest
DIVING: Olympic diver Blake Aldridge has been arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and attacking a supermarket security guard.
Aldridge, 27, who partnered 14-year-old Tom Daley in Beijing, was bailed until mid-March after an incident at Tesco in Beckenham, south-east London.
