Spending more than a penny: This public toilet is up for auction with a price tag of £100k
A toilet stop here will set you back more than a penny.
The former public toilet, which is in Walton-on-Thames in Surrey, has a guide price of £100,000 plus for when it goes to auction later this month.
It has just one level and is a detached building on a rectangular site which spans around 0.06 acres, but has "possible potential for redevelopment" into a home – as long as its new owners can get planning permission.
The property is one of 268 lots which will go to auction on 17 December with property auctions and consultancy Allsop.
While this may seem pricey for a former wash room, Walton-on-Thames is no bog standard location. The 25 minute train ride to Waterloo Station, London is undoubtedly one of its main attractions.
The area is also in the borough of Elmbridge, which is home to a number of top schools including Reeds School, Cobham and Danes Hill School, Oxshott.
The average price for a property in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey is currently £558,576, according to estimates by online property website Zoopla. This has increased by 9.81 per cent from around £500,000 a year earlier.
So perhaps this is a good investment after all.
