So near and yet so Farah
BRITAIN’S Mo Farah set a new national half-marathon record as he became the first home winner of the Great North Run since 1985 yesterday. Olympic, world and European champion Farah completed the 13.1-mile course in exactly one hour to narrowly beat Kenya’s Mike Kigen into second place. Britain’s Gemma Steele was second in the women’s race, which Kenyan Mary Keitany won in a course record time.
