Sky and UKTV coming closer together with new distribution deal
SKY HAS signed a new multi-year deal with UKTV bringing its channels, such as Dave and Good Food, across all of Sky’s services for the first time.
“We are delighted to have extended our partnership with UKTV so that we can offer our customers even more great ways to enjoy some of their favourite shows,” said Sky’s commercial group director Rob Webster on the announcement yesterday.
UKTV’s channels will continue to be available on Sky’s home TV packages, but the new deal also makes the programming available on Sky’s catch up, on-demand and Sky Go services.
“This takes our partnership with UKTV to the next level and demonstrates the extra value that we can create with our content partners,” added Webster.
Sky has 6.7m users on the new services that UKTV will be available on, including 3.4m households using catch up and on-demand, and 3.3m using Sky’s mobile TV service, Sky Go.
“The extension of UKTV’s partnership with Sky is a clear indicator of the increasing and enduring popularity of our channels,” said UKTV commercial director Keith Porritt.
Sky did not disclose the financials of the UKTV deal.
