Sherwood’s QPR rivals McClaren and Clement rule themselves out
FORMER England manager Steve McClaren and Real Madrid No2 Paul Clement have cleared the way for Tim Sherwood to take the Queens Park Rangers job by ruling themselves out.
McClaren said he remained committed to Championship high-flyers Derby – the same response he gave when asked about the Newcastle vacancy in January. “I answered that a few weeks ago and it is the same answer now,” he said. “We laugh it off and move on.”
Englishman Clement, whose father Dave played for QPR, said it would be “a real honour to manage that club at some point”, but added: “I’ve no intention of leaving Real mid-season.”
Ex-Tottenham boss Sherwood is favourite to take charge of the top-flight strugglers, following Harry Redknapp’s resignation on Tuesday.
