July Budget 2015: For the second time this year, it’s Budget bingo!
Budget day is here again. While City analysts and economists are busy working out how George Osborne’s tinkering will impact the UK as a whole, bookies are yet again taking bets on the buzzwords to come out of the chancellor’s briefing.
Sporting Index is predicting the briefing will last 55 minutes, the House will be called to order three times, and Osborne will take exactly three sips of water during the announcement.
Meanwhile Betway is pulling out all the stops, by offering punters odds on 22 separate phrases, including “Heathrow”, “Ed Miliband” and everyone’s favourite, “Long Term Economic Plan”. Betway seems sceptical on Osborne’s opinion of women’s sport; although the chance of Wimbledon getting a mention comes in at 7/1 with the bookmakers, “Women’s World Cup” has a dismal offering at 20/1.
Bookies at Ladbrokes reckon Greece is a dead cert, with odds of 1/100 on it being mentioned – although you can get 100/1 on the chancellor turning up in a Greek-flag-patterned tie. For your full bingo card pay a visit to cityam.com/budgetbingo
