Saxo Bank launches pioneering cycle scheme with 2014 Vuelta Champion Alberto Contador
Employees, clients and friends of Saxo Bank braved the damp yesterday to join 2014 Vuelta Champion cyclist Alberto Contador, Tinkoff-Saxo team manager Bjarne Riis and co-founder and co-chief of the bank, Lars Seier Christensen at Herne Hill Velodrome, where they were invited to ride with Contador in celebration of the 2014 pro-cycling season.
Afterwards, the budding cyclists headed for Dulwich College for a presentation and dinner, during which Saxo announced its new Ride Like a Pro club. The club, a first for a bank, will select a team of promising cyclists from its clients and customers, which will go on to train with the Tinkoff-Saxo team.
“Forget champagne at Ascot, we wanted to give our customers an experience which is impossible to pay for,” Saxo Capital Markets chief Matteo Cassina told The Capitalist.
“No one has ever put clients together to train like a performance team.” A unique treat to say the least.
