Savills names Nick Ferguson new chairman as Peter Smith steps down
Savills has named Sky boss Nick Ferguson its future chairman, after Peter Smith steps down from the role in May.
Ferguson joins the board as a non-executive director from today (26 January) and will take up the reins when Smith retires after the property group's AGM.
Savills chief executive Jeremy Helsby said: "On behalf of everyone at Savills I thank Peter for his leadership of the board since 2004 and for the huge contribution he has made to the development of the company as chairman over the past 10 years. We wish him all the best for the future.
"I am delighted that Nick has agreed to join the board. His experience will be a great asset for Savills as we continue to grow. I look forward to his contribution and guidance as we seek to deliver the company's long-term strategic objectives."
Ferguson is currently the chairman of Sky, a role he has held since 2012. He also has a strong background in the City, having co-founded private equity group Schroder Ventures, now known as Permira, which he was chairman of from 1984 until 2001.
He has also been chairman of private equity group SVG Capital for seven years, and is currently chairman of Alta Advisers, an investment advisory firm.
