Sarries must end last-four hoodoo
SARACENS prop Petrus du Plessis admits he is desperate for his team’s semi-final hoodoo to end as they travel to Franklin’s Gardens for another fierce encounter with bitter rivals Northampton Saints tomorrow.
The last of Saracens’ three semi-final defeats last term came against Saints in the Aviva Premiership, following losses to Toulon in the Heineken Cup and Sale in the LV= Cup.
Northampton also ensured that they would be at home in tomorrow’s LV= Cup semi-final with a defeat of Sarries in the last round of pool fixtures, meaning redemption is firmly on du Plessis’ mind.
“Last year we got to semi-finals in three different competitions and this year we are really putting an emphasis on going forward and doing well,” he said.
“In 2010 we got to the Premiership final, in 2011 we won the final and since then we have been regulars in games of that size.
“Now it is time for us to up our game for getting into the LV= Cup final and it will be a huge event for me to be part of.”
Be part of the rugby family at the LV= Cup final at Sandy Park, Exeter on 16 March. Tickets available from the finalist teams.
