Saints suffer Schneiderlin injury blow ahead of Gunners fixture
SOUTHAMPTON boss Ronald Koeman admits his side will be seriously debilitated by the loss of influential midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin when they clash with Arsenal at Emirates Stadium tomorrow evening.
The 25-year-old limped out of the Saints’ 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday as the reigning champions leapfrogged their rivals into second place in the Premier League, and will now have a scan on his right adductor.
“We know exactly what Morgan means for our team,” he said. “He’s one of our key players and if you miss a key player it’s always difficult for the rest of the team.”
Belgium centre-half Toby Alderweireld filled the holding role after Schneiderlin’s withdrawal and could do so against the Gunners, although Jack Cork returns.
