Sacked Hart considers fresh Portsmouth offer
SACKED Portsmouth manager Paul Hart is considering an offer to stay on at the club as technical director.
Pompey revealed in a statement on Tuesday night that Hart had rejected the role, which oversees the development of players between the ages of 18 and 21.
But, in contrast, a club spokesman confirmed yesterday that Hart had not yet turned down the new position and insisted the club were hopeful he would stay at Fratton Park.
“Paul Hart is considering the position of technical director,” the spokesman said. “He had a further conversation with chief executive Peter Storrie last night and said he would go away and get back to us.
“Hopefully he will stay at the club and work in the capacity of technical director. Everyone at the club would be delighted if he stayed.”
Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant, the club’s director of football, remains the red-hot favourite to take over the manager’s reins but ex-Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson and former Charlton and West Ham chief Alan Curbishley are also in the frame.
