Royal Mail strike called off
A Royal Mail worker strike planned for Monday has been called off by the Communication Workers Union (CWU). Progress was made following talks between the union and the company.
There have been warnings of Royal Mail strikes all the way up to Christmas.
Staff had already been offered an 8.6 per cent pay rise over the next three years and a £300 no strike bonus. All but 368 staff received thousands in shares when the company floated.
Now the two parties have agreed to finalise an agreement in the next two weeks which will incorporate legal protection for employees beyond the current three year offer, an improved pay and reward offer, and a separate pensions agreement.
