Rolls-Royce wins Brazil contract
ROLLS-ROYCE has scored a five-year $138m (£85.4m) maintenance contract with Petrobras, Brazil’s government-controlled oil and gas provider.
Rolls-Royce will repair and maintain 15 power generation units on four of Petrobras’ oil platforms in Campos Basin. Together, these platforms produce 25 per cent of Brazil’s oil output, or over 50,000 barrels of oil daily.
This deal comes just two months after Rolls-Royce announced a $175m deal with Asia Gas Pipeline to power Kazakhstan’s natural gas pipeline in China.
It also follows a bumper round of engine orders agreed at the Dubai Air Show earlier in the week, where Rolls-Royce signed deals to supply and maintain engines with Etihad, Qatar Airways and Mubadala.
“Rolls-Royce technology is at the heart of Brazil’s thriving energy infrastructure. This services contract renewal reflects the excellent working relationship we have developed on this project with Petrobras over the past five years,” said Andrew Heath, Rolls-Royce’s president of energy.
