Rolls Royce bags $138m Petrobras service contract
Rolls Royce has been awarded a $138m (£85.78m), five-year services contract by Petrobras, the deep water oil and gas exploration and production company, to support its oil production activities off the coast of Brazil. The Long Term Service Agreement contract has a potential value of up to $220m (£136.77m) over the five-year renewal period. (Release)
Rolls Royce will supply advanced maintenance and repair services to support 15 of its industrial gas turbine power generation units, which are RB211-G62s. The units are installed on four of Petrobras' oil platforms in the petroleum-rich Campos Basin.
The four platforms can produce over 500,000 barrels of oil a day – that's 25 per cent of Brazil's entire output – and are reliant on nearly 375 megawatts of Rolls Royce-generated power. Over 50 of Rolls Royce's engineers and technicians are working on the project, most of whom are based full-time on the oil platforms.
Continuing its work within Brazilian infrastructure, Rolls Royce will be inaugrating a $100m-plus investment, purpose-built gas turbine package, assembly and test facility in Santa Cruz, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, next year.
