RFU warn Johnson: Top two Six Nations finish is a minimum
RFU chief executive John Steele has warned England manager Martin Johnson that anything other than a top two finish in the upcoming Six Nations tournament would rank as a major disappointment.
Johnson’s side have progressed well over the last year, posting impressive back-to-back home and away wins over Australia, and Steele is keen for the side to lay down further markers ahead of September’s World Cup.
“Given we have three home games and some momentum from the autumn we believe finishing in the top two is realistic,” said Steele. “Third or below would be disappointing given our current position.”
