Regulator appoints financial heavyweights as competition advisers
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has appointed two new senior advisers, who will focus on competition and investment banking.
David Saunders and Gunner Burkhart will bring years of financial and regulatory experience to the financial watchdog.
Saunders is former chief executive of the Competition Commission, with a 35 year-long career in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and its predecessors. He is currently a special advisor at Europe Economics.
Burkhart spent 15 years at Goldman Sachs before joining Deutsche Asset Management, Lehman Brothers and PwC. He now works for Nomura International as managing director/global head of senior relationship management and prime services.
Martin Wheatley, chief executive of the FCA, said of the appointments:
Both David and Gunner come with impressive experience in their respective areas, which will be a valuable resource for the teams as they look at competition and wholesale issues. I’m delighted to have them on-board.
