Redknapp won’t go higher for Crouch
TOTTENHAM boss Harry Redknapp insists he is not willing to pay over the odds for strikers Peter Crouch or Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
Redknapp is keen on a reunion with Crouch, a player he managed at Southampton and Portsmouth, but is unwilling to meet Pompey’s £12m asking price. “It’s an awful lot of money. No disrespect, but Peter is 28-years-old. There is no return when you pay that type of money. And obviously his salary is high,” said Redknapp. “I don’t know whether it is possible for us to do that type of deal. The whole package looks expensive.”
Huntelaar, who can leave Real Madrid for £15.6m, is also on Tottenham’s radar, but Redknapp is again reluctant to be held to ransom.
He added: “Huntelaar is the one I like. The chairman has spoken to Real Madrid but I think it’s an expensive deal that may be beyond us.”
The Holland international, who also interests Arsenal according to reports in Spain, pulled out of a proposed move to German club Stuttgart.
