Redknapp: No Bale sale even for £30m
TOTTENHAM manager Harry Redknapp has warned Gareth Bale’s heavyweight European suitors: look but don’t touch.
Bale’s latest one-man demolition of reigning European Champions Inter Milan has sent the Italian media into overdrive.
The likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Inter have already been touted as potential destinations for the winger.
But with Spurs likely to be able to offer Bale, who signed a four-year contract extension in the summer, Champions League football past January as a result of last night’s 3-1 win at White Hart Lane, Redknapp knows the club are well placed to fend off any lucrative offers – even ones in advance of £30m.
“Nobody would buy him for that [£30m], that’s for sure,” said Redknapp.
“If he had a value it would be way in excess of that sort of figure.
“As far as selling him goes, the people who own Tottenham are not poor people. They don’t need to sell him.”
Bale mania is now sweeping across Europe, with the Italian press particularly giddy at his exploits.
Corriere Dello Sport’s headline (left) simply read: ‘Bale stretches Inter’.
One man particularly glad to see the back of the 21-year-old will be Inter’s revered right-back Maicon, whose reputation has taken a battering at the hands of the Welsh wing wizard over the course of the past fortnight.
But the Brazil international said: “Bale’s performance was not a surprise. Anyone who knows English football knows who Bale is.”
