Recruiter sees the domino effect of bored workers switching jobs
RECRUITMENT firm Robert Walters has seen an upswing in the jobs market as workers become “bored of recession”, its chief executive said yesterday.
“For the first time in a while we’re able to be markedly upbeat, and there’s a degree of optimism returning in a number of markets,” Robert Walters told City A.M.
“People get bored of recession after about five years, of not moving jobs, staying in a job you don’t like, being worried about being last in, first out,” he said.
“This easily creates a domino effect, where companies have to replace leaving staff, and we’re starting to see a little bit of that.”
The company also credited strong growth in its outsourcing business for an overall five per cent rise in revenues to £288.8m for the first half of the year.
Net fee income rose six per cent to £97.8m. The firm posted fee growth in all regions including a 12 per cent jump to £26.7m in the UK.
