Record level of exporters look to take on new staff as sales rise
A RECORD number of exporters are looking to hire new staff as demand and confidence grow to record highs, a new survey out today reveals.
Research from the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) and logistics company DHL Express shows that 40 per cent of exporters said they are looking to hire more workers, the highest level on record.
Seventy-one per cent of the 2,600 exporting firms said they expect their turnover to increase this year, the second highest recorded number according to the BCC.
John Longworth, director general of the industry body, said: “Our exporters are selling more, and hiring more, showing ambition and willingness to export and grow their business.
“They are taking advantage of the opportunities on offer when breaking into new markets and it is great to see that the volume of exports is now at an all time high.”
