Rangers admit James Easdale was paid while working for the club
Rangers have conceded that former director James Easdale was paid during his time at the club, after previously stating that he received "not received any remuneration".
Today the Scottish club has clarified that Easdale was paid director's fees between August 2013 and December 2013 "in accordance with his contractual entitlements", but added that these were all repaid to the club in January 2014.
Rangers said: "Mr Easdale did not receive any further director's fees at any point, despite being contractually entitled to do so". Remuneration is often used to refer to added reward payments or bonuses.
Easdale resigned from the board with immediate effect on Thursday, claiming that he lacked "the fans' support to help the club go forward". The bus magnate had been an unpopular figure with Rangers fans in recent months, as the club lurched from one disaster to the next.
The group will hold an extraordinary general meeting next month, with a vote due to be taken on replacing the current members of the board which includes Easdale's brother Sandy.
