Quins glad of European chance to wipe away Premiership blues
HARLEQUINS’ scrum-half Karl Dickson hopes the Heineken Cup can prove to be a welcome distraction from their poor Aviva Premiership campaign.
Quins’ focus turns to Europe for a fortnight with Pool Four clashes against the Scarlets this Saturday and last year’s runners-up Clermont the week after.
And having lost three of their first five games of the domestic campaign, Dickson is pleased to have the chance to start afresh.
“We probably haven’t hit the ground running as we wanted to but we’re not in a bad position in the league,” he said.
“It’s a marathon, not a sprint and we are looking forward to a different competition in the Heineken Cup. We go into every game with confidence.”
While Quins are stuttering Saracens are flying, with five Premiership wins ahead of tonight’s trip to Connacht.
Yet scrum-half Richard Wigglesworth feels the best is still to come.
“We’ve started the season well. The first couple of games were really good but there were a couple of things we weren’t happy with,” said Wigglesworth.
“But we know there’s a long way to go, and we hopefully can get better as the season goes on.”
