Quins getting closer to announcing new chief
HARLEQUINS are to unveil their new director of rugby this month with assistant coach Tony Diprose strongly tipped to take over the role.
The Quins have been actively seeking a new front man since Dean Richards left the club in disgrace back in August following his part in the bloodgate scandal.
Chief executive Mark Evans has remained coy over the appointment so far, but former England back row Diprose is the fans’ choice to get the job.
Last night, Evans Richards’ successor will be unveiled later this month, ahead of Quins’ Premiership clash with Wasps at Twickenham on 27 December. Dubbed “Big Game 2”, Quins have already sold 50,000 tickets for the all-London affair, and the club are aiming for an 82,000 sell-out.
First, however, the Quins must prepare for the trip to Leeds tonight, looking to build on last week’s 35-29 victory over Gloucester.
England wing Ugo Monye misses out through illness, so Tom Williams, the player at the centre of the bloodgate scandal, takes the No11 shirt.
