Private investigator Mulcaire to sue News Corp over legal fees
PRIVATE investigator Glenn Mulcaire is to sue Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp after it stopped paying his legal fees over the phone hacking scandal.
Murdoch told a parliamentary select committee last month he would cease the payments, which have so far exceeded £246,000.
Mulcaire claims the organisation has a contractual obligation to pay the legal bills.
Meanwhile the News of the World’s former Hollywood reporter James Desborough has been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to intercept communications.
He is the 13th journalist arrested and the first based in the US, although it is understood the charges relate to before he left the UK. Desborough wrote for the News of the World until it closed last month.
