Premier League: Giggs excited by United’s young guns

MANCHESTER United player-boss Ryan Giggs believes the future is bright at Old Trafford after 18-year-old striker James Wilson marked his debut with two goals to keep his side’s faint hopes of qualifying for the Europa League alive.
Wilson, who has scored 19 times for United’s Under-21 side this season, was a surprise inclusion in a front three with Adnan Januzaj and 20-year-old debutant Tom Lawrence.
Their presence helped inspire a victory that means United can qualify for Europe for a 25th consecutive season should they win at Southampton on the final day of the season and Tottenham lose at home to Aston Villa.
Giggs said: “When I took over I wanted to bring some of the excitement back. Some of the forward play from the three young lads was brilliant.
“I wanted to freshen things up from Saturday and they never let us down.”
World Cup hopeful Phil Jones was substituted clutching his shoulder following a heavy collision with Maynor Figueroa early on and replaced by the outgoing Nemanja Vidic for his final home appearance.
Wilson lifted the gloom around Old Trafford with a half volley on 31 minutes, before pouncing on a loose ball after Marouane Fellaini saw a shot saved on 61 minutes. Matty Fryatt reduced the arrears two minutes later, firing into the bottom corner from 25 yards, before Giggs came off the bench and set up Robin Van Persie to complete the scoring.
