Poundland boosts board with new execs
POUNDLAND has bolstered its board after hiring the chief executive of packaging group DS Smith and the finance director of pub group Mitchells & Butlers as non-executive directors.
The bargain retailer, which made its market debut in March, said Miles Roberts and Tim Jones would join the company on 30 October.
“Both Miles and Tim will bring valuable senior experience in strategic development and sound financial performance that will be a great asset to Poundland as we continue to grow the business in the UK and abroad,” Poundland’s chairman Darren Shapland said.
The pair will add to an already heavyweight board, recruited ahead of the float, including former Travelodge boss Grant Hearn.
Roberts was head of household products maker McBride before joining DS Smith in 2010 while Jones was finance director of support services group Interserve before moving to Mitchells & Butlers.
Jones will also serve as chairman of the audit and risk committee. A chartered accountant, he is currently group finance director of M&B.
