Pistorius fired in eatery, court told
PARALYMPIC star Oscar Pistorius fired a gun in a restaurant and then asked someone else to take the blame, a witness in the South African’s murder trial told a court yesterday.
The incident happened a month before Pistorius shot girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his Pretoria home. He denies murder and says he shot her having mistaken her for an intruder.
Kevin Lerena told how Pistorius said sorry for firing the gun in an eatery and asked the gun’s owner, Darren Fresco: “Just say it was you.” Defence lawyer Barry Roux said Pistorius had not realised the gun was loaded.
