Pinewood upbeat as the cameras get rolling again
FILM studio Pinewood Shepperton said yesterday its second-half would be stronger than the first because of a delayed start to the shooting of some films.
The firm, which has provided its studios for British classics such as the Bond films and the Carry On series, expects overall revenue for 2010 in line with market forecasts.
The company said revenue from 1 January to 11 May was broadly in line with the same period last year. It added film revenue remained strong, reflecting continued high demand for UK film production facilities and television revenue was recovering from the effects of the downturn in 2009.
The company said entertainment shows including Perrin, A League of Their Own, and Would I Lie To You? used its facilities for television production. Last year £957m was spent on film production in Britain, the second highest total on record, and the industry employed 42,543 workers.
