Palace hope to land Pulis by the weekend
CRYSTAL Palace have reopened negotiations with former Stoke boss Tony Pulis in the hope of sealing his appointment as manager before Saturday’s trip to Hull.
The Premier League’s bottom club initially contacted Pulis following Ian Holloway’s departure last month, but baulked at his wage demands and desire for financial backing in the transfer window.
A shortlist of candidates for the vacancy was trimmed to three last week and was believed to include Pulis, former boss Iain Dowie and ex-Chelsea defender Dan Petrescu – though he yesterday reaffirmed his commitment to Dynamo Moscow, saying: “I am pleased English clubs remember my name and I would work there, but right now it’s impossible. I want to stay.”
Pulis has never experienced relegation in a 21-year career with six clubs and hopes Eagles chairman Steve Parish, who sanctioned deals to bring 16 new players to Selhurst Park in the summer, will agree to support him when the month-long transfer window opens in January in order to keep his proud record intact.
Palace have never survived a season in the Premier League and have lost nine of their opening 11 games this term.
