Pakistan spot-fix trio verdict delay
PAKISTAN trio Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif will have to wait until 5 February for the verdict in the spot-fixing case against them after a ruling was deferred.
The International Cricket Council’s three-man tribunal in Doha spent six days hearing allegations that the Pakistan players deliberately bowled no-balls in the fourth Test against England at Lord’s in August. Butt, Amir and Asif could be banned for life if found guilty, and the panel said it wanted extra time to consider a verdict due to the possible grave repercussions. In a fresh twist, however, it emerged the tribunal is considering a charge against Butt relating to the Oval Test, although the other two players have been cleared of wrongdoing in that match.
