The Original Bowling Company scores perfect Christmas game
BRITONS celebrated over the Christmas holidays by putting on their bowling shoes, according to the Original Bowling Company, which posted strong results over the festive period.
The company, which runs 44 bowling centres known as AMF and Hollywood Bowl, said like-for-like sales in the five weeks to 5 January were up 8.4 per cent on last year.
Like-for-like sales since the beginning of its new financial year on 1 October were up 7.8 per cent, boosted by a 27 per cent leap in Christmas party bookings.
Richard Cook, chief executive, said: “This is a great result. The investments we have made nationwide have significantly enhanced the customer experience, leading to impressive gains in both footfall and levels of spend.”
The group said total revenue in the year to 30 September rose three per cent while earnings were up seven per cent without giving further financial details.
Two new bowling centres were opened last year in Rochester and Maidstone and a third in Milton Keynes in October.
