Oracle and BT team up for UK cloud push
US software giant Oracle has entered into a partnership with BT to grow its cloud computing business.
Oracle customers will be able to get on to it’s cloud through BT’s network.
BT’s so-called cloud of clouds was launched in April last year and has already partnered with Amazon, Microsoft Azure, Salesforce and Cisco.

The cloud race was triggered by the rapid growth of Amazon’s data hosting arm, Amazon Web Services (AWS) which severely undercut competitor prices. AWS is the fastest-growing enterprise software company of all time, bringing in revenue of $7.9bn (£5.6bn) in 2015 and is expected to grow by as much as 50 per cent this year.
Thomas Kurian, president of product development at Oracle, said:
Cloud is the fastest growing part of Oracle’s business.
Oracle is one of the world’s top five cloud providers, with 70m users and 34bn transactions each day across 19 global data centres.
“Direct and reliable access to data and applications hosted in cloud environments has become critical to organisations as they embark on their digital transformation journeys,” said Luis Alvarez, chief executive of BT global services.
