Japan's Nikkei has seen its biggest fall in eight weeks as the yen hit a six week high against the dollar. The index dropped 576.12 points to 13,824.94.
Key events:
- UK Bank of England quarterly inflation report at 10.30.
- UK Bank of England governor Mark Carney speaks at Parliament.
- German June industrial production at 11.00. A rise from -1.0 per cent to -0.4 per cent in the year to date is expected.
