Ogogo ready to consider the pro’s
LONDON 2012 bronze medallist Anthony Ogogo has admitted the lure of turning professional may yet dissuade him from choosing to pursue his dream of boxing in Rio in 2016.
The 23-year-old middleweight has had offers from professional promoters after impresssing throughout the London Olympics where he defeated the world No1 Ievgen Khytrov of Ukraine, but while there remains a hunger to pursue another medal in Brazil in four years’ time, he has revealed that the prospect of earning money could take his career elsewhere.
“It will be nice to build on the success, go to the worlds and medal and then go to Rio as one of the favourites,” Ogogo said. “I have a burning desire to do that. But on the other hand I’ve got the option of turning professional.”
