NYSE Euronext launches stock exchange in London
AMERICAN exchange operator NYSE Euronext has launched a UK-based rival to the London Stock Exchange.
The firm aims to attract international investors to its NYSE Euronext London platform, which it said “provides a unique market attractive to international issuers, financial intermediaries and investors”.
Foreign issuers will benefit from a “much broader, more diverse and more liquid investor pool than on many of our competitors,” according to Ronald Kent, head of international listings at NYSE Euronext. He said 55 per cent of trading in the company’s markets comes from outside Europe.
Euronext already runs four exchanges in Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels and Lisbon, and said the new addition will be complementary to existing operations, offering trading in shares and major currencies.
