Kim Jong-uninvited: North Korea's invite to Davos World Economic Forum 2016 revoked after nuclear tests

A delegation of North Korean officials have been disinvited to Davos after the reclusive country started nuclear weapons testing.

The original invite to the exclusive World Economic Forum – the first for the country since 1998 – has now been revoked.

"There had been some convincing, encouraging signals out of the DPRK that there may be an opportunity for international global dialogue," said WEF board member Philipp Roesler speaking at a press conference today.

"But we have all seen what has happened last week. We decided after the nuclear test that … there will be no opportunity for an international global dialogue in the spirit of the World Economic Forum. Therefore we could not maintain our invitation to DPRK [North Korea]."

Davos kicks off on 20 January, a week today.
