Neville follows Beckham lead as former Red eyes club purchase
Former England captain David Beckham is not the only ex-Manchester United star to dip his toe into football club ownership, it seems, with Gary Neville, his colleague for club and country, also in negotiations.
But while Beckham has located his bid for world domination in the suitably glamorous surrounds of Miami, Bury-born Neville, 38, is thought to be weighing up plans to invest in humble Salford City FC.
Neville, now an assistant to England boss Roy Hodgson and highly-regarded television pundit, reportedly wants current Red Devil Ryan Giggs to help him set up an academy at the eighth-tier club.
A takeover by the pair would be a huge boost to a side who currently sit ninth in the Evo-Stik First Division North and are thought to be desperate for funding for a new stand and clubhouse.
