Moyes takes the blame as United attempt to dodge ghosts of 1962
UNDER-FIRE Manchester United boss David Moyes has accepted full blame for a run that sees them on the brink of losing three successive home games tonight for the first time in his lifetime.
A Champions League defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk would equal that spell in 1962 and concede top spot in Group A, leaving United facing a possible last-16 clash with Bayern Munich, Barcelona or Real Madrid.
“I take complete responsibility for results,” said Moyes. “It is tough because the expectancy is to win all the games and the results have not been good in the Premier League.”
United, who have lost back-to-back home games to Everton and Newcastle, have already secured qualification to the knockout stage but have fitness concerns over midfielder Marouane Fellaini and defenders Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and Chris Smalling for the visit of Ukraine’s league leaders.
