Microsoft chief Satya Nadella co-operating fully with Chinese antitrust investigation
Microsoft chief Satya Nadella has met with regulators in China over the Government’s antitrust investigation of the US tech firm.
Nadella said Microsoft will fully co-operate with the investigation into its alleged monopoly in the Chinese market, according to Government officials.
On a visit to the country, Nadella met with the chief of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) Zhang Mao and said Microsoft will supply relevant information to the case in a timely manner.
He also said he believed the SAIC’s investigation would be impartial, objective and transparent, according to a state-published account of the meeting.
Chinese regulators announced the investigation into Microsoft in July over the alleged violation of anti-monopoly laws in relation to its Windows operating system and Office software. At the time Microsoft said it was happy to answer questions when officials visited its offices in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Chengdu.
Microsoft declined to comment on the government meeting but said in a statement that it is "serious about complying with China's laws and committed to addressing SAIC's questions and concerns."
