McIlroy seeks hat-trick win
WORLD No1 Rory McIlroy believes he is exploiting a gap in the market which was evident at the start of the season as the Northern Irishman seeks a hat-trick of wins at the US PGA, which starts tomorrow.
The 25-year-old heads to Valhalla fresh from returning to the top of the world rankings for the first time since March 2013 after victory in the Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday and his Open triumph last month.
McIlroy insists his game is at the level which enables him to compete for titles on a consistent basis.
“At the start of the year golf was looking for someone to put their hand up and become one of the dominant players in the game,” he said. “I felt I had the ability to do that and get back to where I should be.”
