Tony McCoy tribute to late Kauto Star
Champion Jockey Tony McCoy hailed Kauto Star as the greatest modern steeplechaser after the two-time Cheltenham Gold Cup winner passed away following a freak accident.
The 15-year-old, who moved into dressage after finishing a glittering racing career in 2012, was put down after suffering neck and pelvis injuries in a fall last week.
Kauto Star won £2.4m in prize money and made history by not only becoming the first horse to regain the Cheltenham Gold Cup but also winning the King George VI Stakes at Kempton five times.
“It is very sad news,” said McCoy. “He was the greatest steeplechaser of the modern era.”
