Matic hails boss Mourinho as Chelsea seal his £21m return
NEW Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic branded boss Jose Mourinho the world’s best yesterday, after completing his £21m return to Stamford Bridge.
Matic moved to Benfica from Chelsea three years ago as part of the deal which saw defender David Luiz move the opposite way.
But the 25-year-old, who worked under Carlo Ancelotti during his first spell at the Blues, has penned a five and a half year contract and is relishing his link-up with Mourinho.
“It’s exciting to work with him, he is the best coach in the world and I want to work with him for a long time,” said Matic.
“I learned to be a winner and play under that pressure [at Benfica]. I developed tactically in Portugal also, training very hard and I believe I am better physically also.”
Matic is cup-tied for this year’s Champions League competition, but could make his Premier League debut for Chelsea in Sunday’s visit of champions Manchester United.
