Manny Pacquiao rules out a comeback after eight-weight world champion bows out with final win over Timothy Bradley
Eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao insists he will not fight again after bringing down the curtain on his storied career with a final victory over American Timothy Bradley on Saturday.
Pacquiao beat Bradley by unanimous decision in their third welterweight meeting, having floored him in the seventh and ninth rounds at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
It ensured the Filipino 37-year-old can bow out on a winning note, following defeat to pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather last year, and Pacquiao is adamant his 66th fight will be his last.
“I think so. I’ve made a commitment to my family that I’m going to retire after this,” said Pacquiao, who is also embarking on a career as a politician in his homeland. “Maybe I enjoy being a retired man, serving the people, helping the people.”
Pacquiao has banked more than £350m in career earnings and is the only boxer to have won 10 world titles in eight different weight divisions.
“He’s just very quick, very explosive,” said Bradley, 32, who won his first fight against Pacquiao in 2012. “It’s hard to really judge him, he has quick reflexes. He used his experience against me, his ability, and he won the fight. I’m in there with a special man, Manny Pacquiao.”
