Manchester City may have let slip John Stones’ imminent transfer from Everton after he is listed in Champions League squad submitted to Uefa
Have Manchester City accidentally announced the signing of Everton’s John Stones?
The club appears to have submitted a Champions League squad list to Uefa for their upcoming qualifier against Steaua Bucharest that includes the 22-year-old centre back.
According to Uefa’s website Stones, given the No24, is a member of City’s squad for the upcoming fixture.
City have been linked with a move for the English defender but no official announcement has yet been made over his future.
Manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed his interest in the defender. Last month he said “everyone knows we are going to try [to sign Stones] but we will see what happens”.
City had a deadline of midnight last night to submit their squad for next week’s trip to Bucharest. Once a club submits their squad list, Uefa lists it on their website.
In a statement Uefa said: "He was in the squad list we received from Manchester City. The deadline was yesterday and the player was in the squad. He has been registered to play."
